How the 22-card Year Card method works
Add your numerical birth month, birth day, and each digit of the target calendar year. Do not add your birth year. If the total is above 22, wrap it around the 22-card cycle until it falls between 1 and 22. A result of 22 represents The Fool, displayed as 0/22; results 1–21 correspond to their established Major Arcana numbers.

Subtract 22 as many times as needed to enter the 1–22 range. Read 22 as The Fool (0/22); otherwise, use the matching Major Arcana card number.

Add the birth month, birth day, and every digit of the target year. Exclude the birth year. For totals above 22, repeatedly subtract 22; map 22 to The Fool as 0/22 and 1–21 to the correspondingly numbered cards.
Defined cycle
The default period is the target calendar year from January 1 through December 31. This stated convention keeps comparisons consistent even though other Year Card traditions may use different dates or formulas.

What happens when the total is higher than 22?
Wrap the total around the 22-card cycle by subtracting 22 until the result is between 1 and 22. For example, 29 becomes 7.
Why is The Fool shown as 0/22?
The Fool is traditionally numbered 0, while this calculation reaches it through a result of 22. Showing 0/22 preserves both the established card number and its place in the 22-card calculation cycle.
